How to Find Your Personal Tarot Card of the Year

How to find your personal tarot card of the year is for 2025

A graphic explaining how to calculate your tarot card of the year.

As the new year approaches, many of us find ourselves eagerly checking our horoscopes, curious about what the stars might have in store for us, hoping it will be a year filled with abundance, love, and prosperity. We read posts and watch videos from psychics, mediums, and astrologers, hoping to get a glimpse of what the future might hold

But did you know there's another tool for personal yearly guidance? Just like you have a zodiac sign, you also have a personal tarot card!  And you can calculate your tarot card of the year to find what wisdom and insight the tarot has for you for the months ahead.

The Major Arcana in tarot consists of 22 cards that represent life's karmic and spiritual lessons. Each card holds deep symbolism and can offer guidance when understood properly. Below, I’ve shared how to calculate your personal tarot card for the year ahead and the key meanings of each Major Arcana card.

How to Calculate Your Tarot Card of the Year

Before we get to the card meanings, let's learn how to find your personal tarot card for the year. The calculation is simple:

  1. Add together the digits of your birth month and day the digits of the current year.

  2. If the total is greater than 22, keep adding the digits until you get a number

    between 1-22

For example, if your birthday is November 28th, you would add 1+1+2+8+2+0+2+5, which totals 21 and corresponds to The World.

* Because The Fool is the first card, 0, for this calculation, it represents the number 22.

Working with Your Year Card

Your tarot card of the year represents the overarching themes and energies you'll be working with during the year. Consider it a starting point for personal growth and understanding. When working with your card, you can:

  • Keep the card visible as a daily reminder

  • Meditate on its imagery and symbolism

  • See how it corresponds to your astrological year

  • Journal about how its themes manifest in your life

  • Notice when its keywords appear in your daily experiences

  • Use it as a guide for decision-making and personal development

Remember that while your year card provides insight into potential themes and energies, you always have free will in how you navigate these influences. Use this knowledge as a tool for self-reflection and growth rather than as a fixed prediction of what's to come. In other words, take what resonates and leave the rest. 😉
